Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Manager, Business Controls & Governance to strengthen the control environment across Service Operations. You will lead governance, risk management, and SOX/SOC 1 compliance, partnering with Internal Audit, Finance, Legal, and Technology to design scalable, sustainable controls.

The role demands a collaborative leader with deep risk and process governance experience, capable of independent decision-making in a complex, matrixed healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in governance, compliance, risk management or related disciplines.
• Experience with business process owners and control environments.
• Knowledge of risk management principles and internal control frameworks.
• Direct SOX and/or SOC 1 control activities experience including walkthroughs.
• Strong control design, operating effectiveness, and remediation knowledge.
• Ability to influence stakeholders in a complex environment.
• Executive communication and risk-based decision-making ability.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen governance, risk management, and internal control processes across critical activities.
• Establish governance frameworks, routines, and accountability across Service Operations.
• Oversee SOX and SOC 1 compliance activities, including documentation and audit support.
• Facilitate risk assessments and escalate emerging risks as appropriate.
• Synthesize findings to identify systemic themes and improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate control walkthroughs, testing, and audit activities with stakeholders.
• Drive remediation plans with clear ownership and timelines.
• Lead quarterly control owner certification and governance processes.
• Maintain control documentation such as narratives, RCMs, and evidence repositories.
• Evaluate control design and operating effectiveness; strengthen where gaps exist.
• Improve control effectiveness while reducing administrative burden.
• Advise on process standardization, automation, and enhanced controls.
• Assess control impact of changes and advise on governance considerations.
• Develop executive communications, dashboards, and status reports.
• Provide guidance on internal controls and audit readiness.
• Serve as trusted advisor to leaders across Service Operations.
• Influence cross-functional partners on risk-based decisions.
