Job summary

CVS Health seeks an experienced Senior Manager, Business Controls & Governance to strengthen the control environment and lead governance activities across Service Operations. You will partner with control owners, Internal Audit, Finance, Legal, and Technology to ensure controls are designed, documented, and monitored, with SOX and SOC 1 compliance oversight.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in governance, compliance, risk management, or related disciplines.
• Experience with business process owners and control environments.
• SOX and/or SOC 1 control activities including walkthroughs, documentation, testing, certification, and audit coordination.
• Strong understanding of internal control concepts, controls design, operating effectiveness, and remediation.
• Ability to influence stakeholders in a complex, matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen governance, risk management, and internal control processes across critical activities.
• Establish and mature governance frameworks, routines, escalation paths, and accountability mechanisms.
• Oversee SOX and SOC 1 compliance activities, including control governance, monitoring, and audit support.
• Conduct risk assessments and identify emerging regulatory and operational risks.
• Synthesize findings to identify systemic themes and opportunities to strengthen controls.
• Coordinate control walkthroughs, testing, and audit activities with Internal Audit and external auditors.
• Drive remediation plans with clear ownership and timelines; lead quarterly certifications.
• Develop control documentation, narratives, RCMs, and evidence repositories.
• Evaluate control design and effectiveness; strengthen controls where gaps exist.
• Advise on risk tradeoffs and governance priorities to senior leaders.
