American Forests, headquartered in Boise, Idaho, is seeking a Senior Manager, Northern Rockies to lead reforestation initiatives and partnerships with the USDA Forest Service. You will manage projects, budgets, and field operations while supervising regional staff.

The role emphasizes program development, grant reporting, and safety oversight, with travel across Idaho and occasional nationwide site visits. This is a full-time, exempt position based remotely within Idaho.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry or natural resources with at least three years of experience; or a Master’s degree with at least two years of experience.
• Field forestry and/or reforestation experience, specifically: planning and implementing forest management actions on federal lands, including conducting fieldwork and implementing field-based projects.
• Experience supervising teams, ideally in field-based and remote environments.
• Working knowledge of project and partnership management; USDA Forest Service experience preferred.
• Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.
• State forestry license and/or SAF Certified Forester certification preferred.
• Current First Aid certification or willingness to be sponsored.
• GPS and GIS experience including AGOL, field maps and Survey123.
• Valid driver’s license; travel to work sites required.
• Spanish-speaking ability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advance regional reforestation activities and partnerships on National Forest Service lands.
• Manage and support reforestation and forest resilience partnerships, including reporting and budgeting.
• Develop new forest restoration projects and grow regional work.
• Oversee field data collection, analysis and adaptive management actions.
• Coordinate field safety training and practices for Region staff.
• Lead recruitment, hiring, and training for staff as needed.
• Support grants and agreements administrative tasks, including budget reforecasting and invoicing.
• Plan and lead site visits and field tours.
