Job summary

J.M. Huber Corporation is seeking a Manager, Environmental Affairs & Compliance to lead environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and sustainability initiatives across industrial sites. The role partners with Operations, Engineering, EHS, Legal, and leadership to safeguard the company’s license to operate.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of experience, deep regulatory knowledge, and certifications such as CHMM or CEM. Travel ~25% and cross-region collaboration are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive environmental compliance experience in manufacturing, mining, industrial, or natural resources.
• Strong expertise in environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and EMS.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. federal and state environmental regulations and permitting.
• Experience supporting mining operations and related environmental requirements preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO 14001, sustainability management systems, and auditing practices.
• Professional certifications such as CHMM, QEP, REM, or CEM desirable.
• Strong project management, analytical, and risk assessment capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management with regulators and industry associations.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance programs across manufacturing and mining operations.
• Direct permitting activities for air, water, stormwater, wetlands, and land use.
• Act as primary environmental subject matter expert for regulatory matters.
• Monitor legislation and industry trends; assess business impacts and strategies.
• Ensure permit requirements, monitoring, and reporting deadlines are met.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Projects on MOC and permitting.
• Represent HSM with regulators, industry groups, and public hearings.
• Support due diligence for acquisitions and divestitures.
• Drive HSMS improvements and internal audits.
• Develop and deliver environmental training to EHS and operations.
• Track, analyze, and report environmental performance to leadership.
