EY seeks a senior AI/Applied ML engineer to design and operate long-running agents across enterprise workflows. You will build connectors, manage tool use and safety controls while shaping behavior for real-world reliability and governance.

The role sits in Challlenger Core, aligning product, platform, security, and evaluation teams to deliver scalable, observable agent solutions with strong operational discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience with deep software and AI production background.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in software or applied ML engineering.
• Experience shipping large‑language‑model applications, agents, or complex model‑driven workflows.

Responsibilities

• Choose the right execution model and architectures for deterministic steps or multi-agent coordination.
• Build dependable tools with clear contracts, validated outcomes, and safe error handling.
• Engineer agent behavior including planning, routing, delegation, retry, and handoff across workflows.
• Create durable context combining instructions, state, memory, and environment feedback while preserving relevance.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities, credentials and budgets.
• Evaluate complete trajectories with tests measuring verified task success and recovery.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state, checkpointing and graceful degradation.
• Make behavior observable via end-to-end traces and replay for failure diagnosis.
• Protect user control with clear intervention points and safe resumption of work.
• Publish reusable agent patterns and lessons across product, platform, security, and evaluation teams.
