Job summary

Pfizer seeks a Senior Manager, Data Scientist to lead analytics for the Innovation, Data & Analytics Team across US sites including Cambridge, MA. The role blends hands-on data science with project leadership to enable AI-enabled workflows in Medical Affairs.

You will design ML/NLP models, collaborate with engineers, ensure governance and privacy, and mentor colleagues while translating complex medical questions into actionable insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field with 6+ years of experience or MBA with 5+ years
• Experience applying data-science methods in healthcare, pharma, or regulated environments
• Hands-on experience developing and evaluating statistical, ML, NLP, or AI-based solutions
• Proficiency with Python or R and SQL and data-science libraries
• Experience with healthcare/pharma data sources
• Experience defining evaluation frameworks and documenting methods clearly
• Ability to lead projects in a cross-functional environment
• Strong communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Understanding data privacy, governance, security, and compliance in healthcare analytics and AI
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead selection and evaluation of analytical and ML approaches for IDA initiatives
• Design segmentation methodologies using healthcare data
• Define analytical logic, metrics, validation methods and decision criteria
• Conduct advanced analyses to identify patterns and opportunities
• Ensure methods are documented, reproducible and fit for purpose
• Evaluate new AI techniques for relevance and scalability
• Prepare and analyze complex datasets from multiple sources
• Develop and refine ML/NLP/AI models
• Partner to translate methods into production-ready pipelines
• Ensure outputs align with data models and governance standards
• Monitor model performance, data drift, and quality
• Address data-quality or methodology issues impacting reliability
• Provide analytical input to IDA planning and roadmaps
• Translate business needs into testable analytical questions
• Communicate findings and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders
• Mentor data scientists and promote best practices
• Role-model Pfizer values and responsible AI use
• Foster inclusive and collaborative team environment
• Promote data science standards and reusable methods
