Job summary

Pfizer is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Scientist to lead analytical direction for IDA initiatives within Medical Affairs. You will guide model selection, cohort design, evaluation frameworks, and responsible AI usage, partnering with data engineering, governance, and business stakeholders.

You will develop production-ready ML/NLP models, analyze complex healthcare datasets, monitor model performance, and drive data-informed decision making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 6+ relevant experience; MBA with 5+ years may substitute part of the experience.
• Experience applying data-science methods in healthcare, pharma, life-sciences, or regulated environments.
• Hands-on experience in statistical, ML, NLP, or AI-based solutions.
• Proficiency with Python or R and SQL; experience with modern data-science libraries.
• Experience with healthcare/pharma data such as claims or EHRs.
• Ability to define evaluation frameworks, validate models, and document methods clearly.
• Ability to lead projects or workstreams and influence outcomes in cross-functional settings.
• Strong communication skills to explain analytical topics to varied audiences.
• Understanding of data privacy, governance, security, regulatory compliance in healthcare analytics.
• English verbal and written communication suitable for scientific, regulatory, and business contexts.

Responsibilities

• Lead selection, design, and evaluation of analytical and ML approaches for IDA initiatives.
• Design cohort, patient, and healthcare professional segmentation using real-world data.
• Define analytical logic, performance measures, validation methods, and decision criteria.
• Conduct advanced analyses to identify patterns, trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Ensure reproducibility and proper documentation of analytical outputs.
• Evaluate emerging data-science and AI techniques for relevance and scale.
• Prepare, integrate, explore, and analyze complex datasets from multiple sources.
• Develop, test, validate, and refine ML/NLP/AI models.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to productionize pipelines.
• Ensure outputs align with governance, data quality, privacy requirements.
