Job summary

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. in Plano, Texas seeks an experienced Trade Compliance professional to manage day-to-day import/export activity, classify products for customs, and audit data for accuracy and cost control.

You will collaborate with Logistics and Finance to implement compliant processes, oversee broker activities, and develop SOPs to mitigate risk in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or International Trade or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 years of international trade experience with core trade principles.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Responsibilities

• Hands-on import, export, and logistics activity including review of transport documents.
• Designate Product Import classifications (USHTS) and ECCN codes in ERP and parts databases.
• Audit import data, verify billing rates, and monitor broker compliance via scorecards.
• Ensure customs broker compliance and accurate Samsung declarations (consumption/FTZ).
• Assist in vendor billing audits and cost analysis for duties and taxes.
• Support cross-functional projects related to trade transactions and SOP development.

Role and Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Hands-on day-to-day import, export, and logistics activity (e.g., review of transport documents, tariff designation, provide broker instructions).
• Leverage internal tools to designate Product Import classification of finished product and service parts (USHTS) and ECCN codes, maintain data management in the company ERP, and issue parts database.
• Coordinate and conduct import audits (e.g., Tariff Code, value, quantity, FTA Claims) and monitor Brokerage compliance through Metrics and Broker Scorecards.
• Ensure the designated Customs Broker maintains compliance and exercises reasonable care in filing Samsung customs declarations, whether they are consumption or foreign trade zone entries.
• Audit (e.g., accuracy of import data and billing rates) and process vendor billing invoices.
• Monitor and assess impact of local and global customs changes and related laws and regulations, ability to summarize and provide guidance to mitigate risk (e.g., Section 301, USITC litigation cases, Forced Labor, Trade Modernization, Supply Chain Security, etc.).
• Support the development of SOPs and training and the refinement and implementation of Trade Compliance-related processes and Best Practices.
• Assist the Logistics department and Finance/Accounting in analyzing costs for duties and taxes, international transportation and develop methods to minimize or reduce costs.
• Support the export function, document creation, guidance, direction, and restricted party screening activities when necessary.
• Assist in internal company global policies and finance audits.
• Support with cross-functional projects related to trade transactions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, International Trade or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 years of International Trade experience with a good understanding of core trade principles (e.g., valuation, tariff coding, free trade agreements, reconciliation, etc.).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

Preferred Qualifications

• License Customs Broker, preferable but not required.
• Critical Thinking and Analytical skills with respect to data manipulation, and the ability to create actionable and informative data (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau, dashboarding).
• A high level of confidence, integrity, enthusiasm, and executive presence fits a fast-paced, energetic, and proactive organization.
• Experience working with Telecom, Technology, Consumer Electronics, or Retail industry.
