Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an Import Specialist to support the trade compliance function, focusing on import shipments, HTS classification, and FTZ/CTPAT activities. The role requires coordination with brokers, cross‑departmental collaboration, and ensuring regulatory compliance for imports and exports.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Customs Regulations especially 19 CFR 146 Import compliance and regulations.
• Working knowledge and PC skills including Outlook, Excel, and industry related websites (CROSS, FDA, APHIS, USHTS).
• Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications.
• Auditing principles.
• 5-12 years of experience working in import operations and compliance with an importer or customs broker.

Responsibilities

• Research and classify parts for the company’s import shipments, determining HTS numbers, country of origin, quantity, valuation, and PGA information.
• Research and respond to Customs requests for information in a timely manner as prescribed by regulation.
• Assist in risk assessment reviews including quarterly internal assessments for imports.
• Work directly with freight forwarders and customs brokers to facilitate imports/exports.

Position Summary

As a member of the trade compliance team (Corporate Counsel Dept.), the Import Specialist is responsible for supporting the trade compliance function within the trade compliance team focusing on imports. This includes the daily support for import shipments by support of broker requests, assigning HTS codes, daily file audit and review, and working with other company departments to facilitate the import activities of the company. Also supporting FTZ operations and CTPAT compliance.

Role and Responsibilities

• Researchandclassifypartsforthecompany’simportshipments–determiningaccurateHTSnumbers,verifyingcountryoforigin,quantity,valuation,andPGA(ParticipatingGovernmentAgency)information.
• ResearchandrespondtoCustomsrequestsforinformationinatimelymannerasprescribedbyregulation.
• ResearchandclassifynewpartsforimportsaccordingtotheHTSUS(HarmonizedTariffSystemoftheUS)
• Assistinriskassessmentreviewsincludingquarterlyinternalassessmentsforimports.
• AssistwiththeannualpreparationanddistributionofC-TPATsupplychainsecurityletterstosuppliersandserviceproviders
• PerformCustomsportalupdateofC-TPATprogramasrequired
• Workdirectlywithothercompanydepartmentstoobtaininformationneededforthetradecompliancefunctionandtoassistineducatingthemabouttradecompliance.
• ReviewACEportalforupdatesandreportsusedtomaintaincompliance.
• MaintainandupdatethepartsdatabasewithcurrentHTSnumbers.

The current base salary range for this role is between $84,000 - $135,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
