Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an Import Specialist to support trade compliance within Corporate Counsel. You will research and classify parts, assign HTS codes, review documents for import readiness, and work with brokers and internal teams to ensure smooth import activity and C-TPAT compliance.

The role requires knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, HTS classifications, and strong Excel/Outlook skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of US customs regulations (19 CFR 146) and import compliance.
• Experience with HTS classifications and country of origin determinations.
• Experience with trade compliance programs and audits.
• Strong PC skills including Outlook and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Research and classify parts for imports, determining HTS numbers and country of origin.
• Respond to Customs requests for information in a timely manner.
• Classify new parts for imports per HTSUS.
• Assist in risk assessment reviews and quarterly internal assessments for imports.
• Prepare and distribute C-TPAT supply chain security letters to suppliers.

Position Summary

As a member of the trade compliance team (Corporate Counsel Dept.), the Import Specialist is responsible for supporting the trade compliance function within the trade compliance team focusing on imports. This includes the daily support for import shipments by support of broker requests, assigning HTS codes, daily file audit and review, and working with other company departments to facilitate the import activities of the company. Also supporting FTZ operations and CTPAT compliance.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Researchandclassifypartsforthecompany’simportshipments–determiningaccurateHTSnumbers,verifyingcountryoforigin,quantity,valuation,andPGA(ParticipatingGovernmentAgency)information.

• ResearchandrespondtoCustomsrequestsforinformationinatimelymannerasprescribedbyregulation.

• ResearchandclassifynewpartsforimportsaccordingtotheHTSUS(HarmonizedTariffSystemoftheUS)

• Assistinriskassessmentreviewsincludingquarterlyinternalassessmentsforimports.

• AssistwiththeannualpreparationanddistributionofC-TPATsupplychainsecurityletterstosuppliersandserviceproviders

• PerformCustomsportalupdateofC-TPATprogramasrequired

• Workdirectlywithothercompanydepartmentstoobtaininformationneededforthetradecompliancefunctionandtoassistineducatingthemabouttradecompliance.

• ReviewACEportalforupdatesandreportsusedtomaintaincompliance.

• MaintainandupdatethepartsdatabasewithcurrentHTSnumbers.

• Abilitytoresolvediscrepanciesandaddressimportchallengesandissues.

• Workdirectlywiththirdpartyproviders(freightforwarders,CustomsBrokers)thathandletheCompany’simports/exportsandprovidesupporttofacilitatethereleaseofimport/exportshipments

• Otherdutiesmaybeassignedbymanagementinordertomeetthecompanyorbusinessobjectiveonanasneededbasis.

Skills and Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll need:

• KnowledgeofCustomsRegulationsespecially19CFR146.Importcomplianceandregulations.

• Workingknowledgeand PCskillsincludingOutlook,Excel,andindustryrelatedwebsites(CROSS,FDA,APHIS,USHTS,etc.).

• HarmonizedTariffSchedule(HTS)Classifications.

• Auditingprinciples.

• 5-12yearsofexperienceworkinginimportoperationsandcompliancewithanimporter,customsbroker.

The current base salary range for this role is between $84,000 - $135,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
