Job summary

Harvard Law School Library is seeking a Manager for Collection Development & Resource Strategy to lead the library’s collection development program. You will oversee budgets, licensing, policy implementation, and cross-unit collaboration to advance research and teaching.

The role requires strategic thinking, data-driven decision-making, and the ability to supervise and mentor staff while coordinating with Harvard Library and external partners.

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited MLS with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Supervisory experience in an academic library.
• Familiarity with Ex Libris Alma/Alma Analytics.

Responsibilities

• Oversee budget aligned with director priorities and allocation.
• Analyze data to inform renewals, cancellations, and acquisitions.
• Develop financial models for long-term collection sustainability.
• Select materials in US law and other jurisdictions.
• Lead assessment of print and digital collections for planning.
• Develop and refine collection policies and workflows.
• Collaborate with Harvard Library and peer institutions.
• Supervise two librarians: FC&I Librarian and Collection Coordinator.
• Negotiate licenses for electronic resources to secure favorable terms.
• Manage relationships with publishers, vendors, and consortia.
