Job summary

IS International Services is seeking a Senior BESS Electrical Engineer to drive the engineering and technical review of utility-scale battery storage projects. In this fully remote senior position, you will own the electrical design process from concept through execution.

You will mentor project teams, ensure seamless integration of low-voltage and medium-voltage components, evaluate balance-of-plant systems, and interface with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performing renewable energy

Qualifications

• 8+ years total electrical engineering experience.
• 3–5 years direct experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Experience with ETAP and SKM for power system studies.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• PE license preferred but not required.
• Familiar with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL, IEC codes.
• Strong communication and remote-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review engineering packages including SLDs, layouts, grounding designs, and cable routing maps.
• Specify and integrate PCS, battery enclosures, MV/LV transformers, and switchgear.
• Perform electrical calculations, cable schedules, and sizing for utility-scale systems.
• Lead Balance-of-Plant (BOP) integration across engineering disciplines.
• Ensure designs meet interconnection requirements and NEC/IEEE/UL/IEC standards.
