Job summary

Good Samaritan Medical Center seeks a Manager for Anatomic Pathology Operations to lead gross room and specimen management, accessioning, and archive activities. You will coordinate workflow across departments, enhance safety and compliance, and collaborate with pathologists and clinical teams to ensure efficient, high‑quality pathology services.

You will oversee staffing, budgets, and performance metrics, while driving process improvements and Epic Beaker enhancements to support department

Qualifications

• Requires leadership of lab operations in Anatomic Pathology.
• Experience with CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, OSHA, HIPAA compliance.
• Experience in academic medical center environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, competency assessment, coaching, and performance management for staff.
• Leads quality, safety, and regulatory programs and inspection readiness.
• Oversees gross room, specimen management, accessioning, and pre-analytic workflows; drives process improvements.
• Manages specimen receiving, triage, frozen section coordination, and chain-of-custody.
• Serves as liaison between Anatomic Pathology and clinical departments; advises on specimen collection and workflow optimization.
• Directs slide, paraffin block, and archive operations, including retention schedules and access.
• Partners to optimize Epic Beaker workflows, specimen tracking, reporting, testing activities, and system upgrades.
• Manages budgets, capital planning, resources, and productivity metrics.
