Job summary

CLS Connect in Flagstaff, AZ is seeking a Manager of Anatomic Pathology Systems to lead the day-to-day operations of the AP department, including Histology, Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology.

This full-time, onsite leadership role oversees staffing, QA/QC, compliance with CAP/CLIA, and workflow optimization while partnering with pathologists and hospital leadership to maintain high-quality testing and timely results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of equivalent experience in pathology.
• 2+ years of leadership experience in a pathology setting.
• ASCP certification: Histotechnologist HTL(ASCP) or Cytotechnologist CT(ASCP).

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily Anatomic Pathology operations, including Histology, Surgical Pathology, and Cytopathology.
• Manage staff scheduling, training, competency assessments, performance evaluations, hiring and development.
• Oversee QA/QC, CAP and CLIA compliance, inspection readiness, and corrective actions.
• Lead workflow and process-improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and turnaround times.
• Develop and manage operating/capital budgets and monitor departmental expenditures.
• Collaborate closely with Pathologists, laboratory leadership, and other hospital departments.

Manager, Anatomic Pathology Systems

Full-Time, Direct Hire, Onsite Monday – Friday, Day Shift

$45–$62/hour plus bonuses and fully paid benefits

This is a leadership opportunity overseeing the day-to-day operations in the Anatomic Pathology department, including Histology, Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology, staffing, quality, compliance, and workflow management. The Manager will lead and develop the AP team while ensuring high-quality testing, strong turnaround times, regulatory compliance, and efficient laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee daily Anatomic Pathology operations, including Histology, Surgical Pathology, and Cytopathology
• Manage staff scheduling, training, competency assessments, performance evaluations, hiring, and employee development
• Oversee QA/QC, CAP and CLIA compliance, inspection readiness, and corrective actions

Required Qualifications:

• Strong Anatomic Pathology/Histology operations and regulatory knowledge

ASCP certification as one of the following:

• Histotechnologist, HTL(ASCP)
• Cytotechnologist, CT(ASCP)

Preferred:

• Strong experience with CAP inspections, quality management, process improvement, and laboratory leadership
