Job summary

The Tech Interactive in San Jose is seeking a Director of Major Gifts to lead frontline fundraising and manage a portfolio of major donors. You will regularly solicit five- and six-figure gifts and craft individualized strategies that connect donor interests with The Tech’s programs, exhibits, and long-term vision.

You will partner with the Vice President of Development, the CEO, and other leaders to advance campaigns, develop cases for support, and customize proposals for significant prospects.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5+ years of fundraising experience with individual major donors.
• Track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing five-figure gifts.
• Experience or readiness to regularly solicit six-figure gifts.
• Strong relationship-building with donors, board members, and executives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with ability to translate priorities into proposals.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects through identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, closing, and stewardship.
• Regularly solicit five- and six-figure gifts and build a pipeline of new donors with capacity to give significant gifts.
• Develop individualized strategies linking donor interests to The Tech Interactive's mission and programs.
• Engage donors through one-on-one meetings, visits, events, and other touchpoints to deepen connection.
• Partner with VP of Development, CEO, and leadership on donor strategy and solicitation.
• Support campaign fundraising with compelling proposals and tailored materials for major opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Donor Communications Manager to create cultivation experiences for Leadership Circle and others.
• Maintain understanding of programs and impact; use data to prioritize opportunities and drive results.
