Job summary

San José State University is seeking an Executive Director of Development to lead a team of fundraising professionals in major gifts, capital campaigns, and events. You will establish strategic directions, build donor relationships, and collaborate across campus to meet annual goals.

You will manage a portfolio of high-net-worth donors, work with college leaders, and engage with volunteers to advance fundraising priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Seven years of successful professional development and/or fundraising-related experience, cultivating and soliciting a portfolio of donors; including proven ability to solicit and close gifts

Responsibilities

• Oversees directors of development for colleges and units and sets funding priorities
• Meets with directors regularly to guide and ensure goal achievement
• Evaluates direct reports’ performance annually
• Coordinates with the prospect management system for donor cultivation
• Engages in university fundraising activities on- and off-campus
• Develops and evaluates fundraising plans aligned with priorities
• Collaborates with Annual Giving, Planned Giving, and Corporate & Foundation Relations — and builds donor relationships
