Job summary

San José State University’s Office of University Advancement seeks a Director of Development for the Technology Sector in San Jose. This frontline fundraiser builds relationships with tech executives, founders, investors, and industry leaders to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors interested in technology, information systems, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development, the Director manages a major-gift portfolio, developing strategic

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in development or related field.
Experience with high-net-worth individuals and securing significant philanthropic or business commitments.
Proficiency with CRM systems.

Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of major gifts including six- and seven-figure commitments.
Develop strategies for identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Conduct donor visits in person and virtually.
Prepare and present compelling philanthropic proposals.
Solicit outright, multi-year, planned, and blended gifts.
Maintain a robust donor pipeline and meet activity goals.
Engage alumni and industry leaders to advance university priorities.
Document prospect activities accurately in the advancement database.
