Job Description Summary:

This position is responsible for basic maintenance and facility upkeep. Responsibilities include general maintenance, preventative maintenance, grounds keeping, and painting. The role supports other facilities associates, projects, and activities based on organizational needs. Duties may vary based on campus location, business needs, and seasonal tasks.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Maintenance General & Preventative: Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, windows, doors, elevators) to ensure effective operations. Responds to service calls involving OhioHealth properties, including administrative, patient care, and public areas. Tasks include cleaning, adjusting, testing, repairing, or replacing HVAC equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, switches, outlets, wiring, and other systems necessary for healthcare facility operations. Troubleshoots minor medical gas and kitchen equipment.
  2. Corrective Maintenance: Provides repairs on boilers, chillers, pumps, and heat exchangers. Repairs patient care equipment (beds, wheelchairs, stretchers), administrative equipment (chairs, desks), and public area furnishings (tables, shelves). Coordinates with vendors for warranty and non-warranty projects. Performs carpentry and painting activities, including repairing doors, locks, ceilings, walls, windows, floors, furniture, and installing equipment. Performs minimal painting and patching, including estimating materials and cleaning up.
  3. Equipment and Facility Inspection: Coordinates and inspects projects, structures, and equipment to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance with codes and standards (city, state, JCAHO). Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Driver's License (Department of Motor Vehicles)

Additional Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of mechanical systems, commercial HVAC, building safety codes, blueprints, materials, and finishes. Experience with electronics, plumbing, mechanical systems, hand and power tools. 2-3 years in commercial or building maintenance. Ability to work in a team environment.
