Job Description

Repair Technician II - Assembly and Testing of Locomotive Brake Valves

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 6 AM - 4:30 PM, $17-19/hr + $0.80 shift differential

Essential Functions
  • Disassemble, wash, and reassemble freight or locomotive valves and brake pistons.
  • Identify serviceable versus non-serviceable parts.
  • Operate semi-automatic equipment such as pedestal buffers, hand buffers, wash machines, ultrasonic washers.
  • Handle valves, parts, and tools safely.
  • Use power and manual tools properly, including impact wrenches, drills, EZ Outs, and hand tools.
  • Follow all quality and safety rules, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform hazardous waste management duties, including annual hazardous waste management and triennial DOT Hazardous Materials Ground Shipper certification.
  • Support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant statutory or regulatory obligations.
  • Adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Support relevant KPIs as defined in the goal tree.

Additional Information

Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: Exposure to shop floor conditions, including noise, heat, cold, and dust. Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, handle objects, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Physical Demands: Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, handle, and reach frequently.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • One to Two years of related experience.
