Senior Maintenance Technician - Injection

The Sr. Maintenance Technician ensures equipment uptime through timely troubleshooting and repair of all equipment failures. They share knowledge of all production equipment with the maintenance team and operators. The role acts as a subject matter expert in areas such as injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers. They perform troubleshooting and repair of facilities and auxiliary equipment like chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, and other water filtration systems. They work directly with Maintenance Technicians, machine Operators, Supervisors, and Managers to resolve mechanical issues. The Sr. Maintenance Technician develops and implements best practices aligned with Niagara's maintenance strategies, champions continuous improvement, and assists in training in their focus areas.

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to and enforce the highest standards in safety and good manufacturing practices plant-wide.
  • Train and lead Operators, Mechanics, and Supervisors on technical procedures related to high-speed bottle manufacturing and packaging.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership on projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and problem resolution.
  • Rapidly identify machine problems to minimize downtime, conducting root cause analysis to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Partner with other Sr. Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross-functional problems.
  • Use software systems to analyze issues and improve throughput performance.
  • Define requirements and lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment during planned downtime.
  • Transfer knowledge to team members to develop operating and troubleshooting procedures in areas like blow molding, filling/capping, labeling, dry-end packaging, and injection technology.
  • Create SOPs for troubleshooting machines and upload them to the BDA system; ensure machine reliability.
  • Maintain regular attendance and on-call availability to ensure equipment and facility uptime.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment.
  • 6+ years in the specific role.
  • 4+ years managing people or projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in maintenance manufacturing.
  • Experience with specific equipment like Krones, Husky, Sidel, etc.
  • Experience leading teams and process improvements.

Education

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree in related manufacturing fields.

Additional Skills and Competencies include: reading schematics, working with shop equipment, electrical systems, and creating process improvements.
