Job summary

Lummus Technology in Pasadena, TX is seeking a Maintenance Technician to provide general maintenance support at the site in a safe, effective manner. Responsibilities include diagnosing equipment failures, running tubing and piping, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.

Qualified candidates have a minimum of 5 years of plant maintenance experience, strong tubing/piping abilities, and familiar with safety programs like LOTO and confined space.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a plant environment.
• Strong tubing and piping abilities; instrumentation/electrical/mechanical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose equipment failures and identify root causes.
• Run tubing and piping, and maintain facility lighting and grounds.
• Replace or repair defective mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical components.
• Troubleshoot pumps, compressors, gearboxes, motors and valves.
• Read electrical schematics, P&IDs, manuals, and drawings.
• Comply with LOTO, confined space, hot work and safety programs.
• Maintain housekeeping in shops and work areas.
• Participate in safety programs and line break procedures.
• Grease, lubricate, diagnose, and calibrate process equipment.
• Relocate power lines and decommission electrical panels.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and perform new installations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose equipment failures and identify root causes of recurring problems.
• Running tubing and piping, and general maintenance (i.e. facility lighting, plumbing and grounds).
• Replace or repair defective mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical components.
• Troubleshoot and repair pumps, compressors, gearboxes, motors, mixers, valves, and associated systems.
• Troubleshoot basic electrical systems, including motors, MCCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and control circuits.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
• Comply with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and other safety programs.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices in maintenance shops and work areas.
• Follow all facility procedures and safe work practices by fully participating in the facility’s safety programs (Lockout/Tagout, confined space, hot work, line break).
• Grease and lube the machines, perform diagnostics, and maintain broken equipment.
• Relocate power lines/supply to different buildings and decommission electrical panels.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation problems, perform new installations, and calibrate/tune process equipment.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a plant environment.
• Strong tubing and piping abilities.
• Strong instrumentation, electrical and/or mechanical experience preferred.
• Experience working in a safety-conscious work environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical equipment and systems.
