Job description

The Maintenance Senior Technician is a shop hourly position responsible for troubleshooting and repairing plant equipment, as well as performing preventative maintenance tasks. This role requires an experienced mechanic proficient in troubleshooting mechanical systems and capable of working independently. The technician will also lead and train junior technicians as assigned. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  1. Own personal and team safety, observing all safety rules and using proper safety equipment.
  2. Continuously develop skills to work on both production and facility equipment.
  3. Achieve departmental safety goals and promote sustainability by reducing environmental impact, minimizing waste, and conserving resources.
  4. Support a culture of innovation by improving processes and equipment.
  5. Maintain 5S standards within the department.
  6. Work independently to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, complete open work orders, and perform PMs on major plant equipment.
  7. Perform repairs on hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission systems, including pumps, compressors, and piping systems.
  8. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment drawings; trace wiring and diagnose controls.
  9. Document processes, procedures, and after-action reports thoroughly.
  10. Lead and train junior technicians in repair and troubleshooting tasks.
  11. Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor, utilizing internal and external resources effectively, and collaborating across departments to improve equipment uptime.
NATURE & SCOPE

Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor or a senior technician as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  1. Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and drives is preferred but not required.
  2. Strong documentation, communication, and troubleshooting skills, including proficiency in math, electrical schematics, and mechanical systems.
  3. Ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions and work environments.
  4. Understanding of LEAN principles, welding, milling, lathe techniques, and safe operation of power tools and man lifts.
  5. Familiarity with safety procedures, policies, and standard work instructions.
  6. Proficiency in using computers to access instructions and documentation.
WORKING CONDITIONS

The role involves physical activity such as lifting (up to 50 lbs.), standing (up to 80%), walking, reaching, bending, and fine hand manipulation. The environment includes noise, temperature fluctuations, and outdoor exposure. Work hours can include any shift, with potential weekend overtime.
