Job description

Job Overview

The Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the physical infrastructure of the organization. This role ensures facilities are safe, functional, and well‑maintained, while also leading and mentoring facilities staff. The technician troubleshoots complex maintenance issues, coordinates with external contractors, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This multi‑trade position covers electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, and carpentry maintenance and repair work.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • In plumbing, replace toilets, sinks, faucet sets, drainage piping, unclog toilets using plungers or motorized drain cleaners, and troubleshoot minor leaks.
  • In carpentry, install acoustical hung ceilings, stud walls, gypsum drywall, spackling/painting, doors, door hardware, door/window trim, and minor wall repairs.
  • In HVAC, troubleshoot and repair air handling systems, fan coil units/motors, heaters; replace filters, belts, seals, bearings, sheaves, and repair or replace air compressors and pumps.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and implement preventive measures.
  • Lead and mentor Facilities Assistants staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Assign and prioritize maintenance tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of external contractors to ensure quality and compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure facilities are safe, clean, and well‑maintained.
  • Monitor and manage building security systems, including alarms and access controls.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and take appropriate action to resolve issues (off‑hours work may occur).
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and building codes.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Conduct safety training and ensure all maintenance staff follow safety protocols.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment in an orderly and neat fashion.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to order parts and materials as needed.
  • Maintain and repair maintenance tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Work closely with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruptions to operations.
  • Communicate effectively, courteously, and professionally with management and staff regarding maintenance issues and status updates.
  • Participate in planning and execution of facility improvement projects.

Work Requirements
  • Availability Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM.
  • Must respond to emergency situations that may occur outside of normal working hours.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Required Experience and Education
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational technical training preferred; HVAC Certification; OSHA Safety Certificate.
  • Experience: Minimum 5–7 years in facilities maintenance; at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role; 3+ years HVAC and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
    • Proficiency in using maintenance tools and equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Leadership and team management abilities.
    • Basic computer skills and familiarity with maintenance management software.
Salary and Benefits

Salary: $60,000 per year.
