Job summary

Indiana University Health in Bloomington, IN is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance and respond to service calls in the Bloomington Hospital. The role requires reading blueprints, understanding electrical, plumbing, fire and air systems, and ensuring compliance with healthcare codes.

You will train staff, coordinate with other departments, and contribute to patient care operations within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• May require a valid Indiana driver's license with proof of insurance.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical secondary systems, plumbing systems, fire system devices and air systems.
• Ability to read and interpret information from complex blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
• Extensive knowledge of healthcare building codes.
• Knowledge of OSHA, Life Safety and Joint Commission codes and regulations.
• Advanced knowledge in the use of specialized tools.
• Basic computer skills.
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduled and non-scheduled preventive maintenance and responds to dispatched general maintenance calls, and troubleshooting/repairing secondary utility systems of buildings, plumbing, air-conditioning, electrical and air systems.
• Maintains, repairs and inspects specialized machinery and equipment in accordance with code and regulatory requirements.
• Recommends improvements and corrections to facilities equipment and/or systems to meet patient care needs.
• Coordinates functions with other services and departments.
• Trains colleagues on various skills and tasks.
• Acts as a resource or mentor to colleagues and provides leadership to the team.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Overview

Schedule: Monday- Friday; 7:00am- 3:30pm with rotating weekends and off shift coverage

Location: Bloomington Hospital

• Performs scheduled and non-scheduled preventive maintenance, responding to dispatched general maintenance calls, and troubleshooting/repairing secondary utility systems of buildings, plumbing, air-conditioning, electrical and air systems.
• Maintains, repairs and inspects specialized machinery and equipment in accordance with code and regulatory requirements.
• Recommends through the appropriate channels any improvements and corrections to the facilities equipment and/or systems that meet overall patient care needs.
• Coordinates functions with other services and departments.
• Trains colleagues on various skills and tasks.
• Acts as a resource or mentor to colleagues and provides general leadership to the team.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
