Job summary

City of Houston is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic III to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other building systems. The role requires routine inspections, documentation, and coordination with the facilities team to keep City facilities safe and functional.

The position involves lifting up to 80 pounds, working Monday to Friday, 7am–4pm, with potential schedule changes.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in building or mechanical maintenance.
• Must have a valid Texas driver's license and comply with City policy; CDL preferred.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting skills are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Drive to inspect systems and perform corrective actions.
• Record equipment history in work order system.
• Perform maintenance across HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical and painting.
• Conduct quality checks on building systems.
• Assist with groundskeeping and other maintenance tasks as needed.
