The City of Houston's General Services Department is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic III to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other systems across city facilities. The role requires routine checks, repairs, and documenting work history to ensure reliable operation and safety.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years hands-on building maintenance experience, a valid Texas driver's license (CDL a plus), and may have HVAC or electrical certifications.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in building or mechanical maintenance.
• Valid Texas driver’s license and comply with City of Houston policy on driving.
• May require a valid CDL.
• Preference for eligible veterans with the required qualifications.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in general building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or related areas.

Responsabilités

• Inspect and test various systems and equipment; perform repairs as needed.
• Record equipment history and maintenance tasks in the internal work order system.
• Perform carpentry, plumbing, painting, and roofing repairs as part of a facilities team.
• Ensure quality checks on HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
• Perform groundskeeping duties as needed and assist with other maintenance tasks.
