Job summary

Optomi, in partnership with a global leader in technology services, is seeking an experienced Mainframe Storage SME to support enterprise-scale infrastructure and storage environments. This role focuses on mainframe storage administration, data management, platform reliability, and modernization initiatives across a complex technology environment.

The candidate will serve as SME for mainframe storage, administer DASD and tape storage, and troubleshoot within z/OS environments while collaborating

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mainframe storage administration experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for mainframe storage environments, supporting day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, optimization, and long-term platform strategy.
• Administer DASD and tape storage environments, ensuring availability, performance, capacity, and data integrity.
• Work within z/OS and z/OS (MVS) environments and troubleshoot storage and systems issues.
• Manage TSO, ISPF, JCL, VSAM, ISMF, JES2, catalogs, datasets, and related components.
• Support DFSMS, DFSMSHSM, DFSMSDSS, DFSMSDFP, DFSMSRMM environments.
• Use CA products, FDR, and OMEGAMON XE for storage management, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Analyze space abends, SMF/Dcollect data, BVIR reports to identify root causes and prevent issues.
• Participate in data migration, storage replication, and modernization initiatives.
• Identify risks and recommend improvements for performance, resiliency, security, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, security, and client teams to deliver solutions and maintain service levels.
