Senior Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer and Strategic Advisor - Remote

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform problem tracking, diagnosis, root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution for complex issues.
2. Oversee programming and debugging activities.
3. Respond to incidents and service tickets promptly.
4. Provide technical consultation on challenging or unusual situations.
5. Lead large projects to improve processes or support capabilities.
6. Manage external vendors when necessary.
7. Interpret business challenges and recommend best practices.
8. Use analytical skills to identify innovative solutions.
9. Mentor less experienced team members.
10. Potentially have people management responsibilities.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience in development or support, or equivalent.
• Deep specialized or broad functional knowledge.
• Understanding of business strategies and processes.
• Ability to lead complex projects and solve technical problems.
• Strong influence and communication skills at senior levels.

Preferred

• Master's degree or MBA with 10+ years of experience.
• Banking or financial services experience.
• Experience with zOS upgrades, hardware refreshes, zOSMF workflows, GDPS, OPS/MVS, and mainframe optimization.
• Knowledge of mainframe cost management and AI solution design on mainframes.

Other Requirements

• Frequent sitting, up to 25 lbs lifting, and working with standard office equipment.
• Availability for scheduled hours, including overtime.
• Up to 25% travel.
