Job summary
Signature IT World Inc. in Phoenix, AZ seeks an experienced Mainframe Engineer to design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise mainframe applications.
The candidate should have strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM, along with experience in production support, application enhancement, and troubleshooting. You will develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL and related technologies, analyze requirements, and translate them into technical solutions.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS and VSAM.
- Experience in production support, enhancement, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to analyze requirements and translate into technical solutions.
- Familiarity with batch and online mainframe processing and debugging.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL and related technologies.
- Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain COBOL programs, JCL jobs, DB2 SQL, CICS transactions, and VSAM files.
- Perform application debugging, unit testing, integration testing, and defect resolution.
- Monitor and troubleshoot batch and online processing issues.
- Analyze JCL failures, abends, DB2 issues, CICS problems, and production incidents.
- Optimize application performance and batch processing.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.
- Work with business analysts, architects, QA teams, and production support teams.
- Prepare technical documentation and support application releases and deployments.
- Participate in on-call/production support activities as required.
- Identify opportunities to modernize and improve legacy mainframe applications.
