FIS is seeking a Senior Mainframe Application Support Engineer - Deposits to provide advanced production support for banking deposit applications in an IBM mainframe environment. You will troubleshoot incidents, manage batch and online processing, and drive resolutions while partnering with cross-functional teams.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in mainframe banking applications, strong COBOL, and deep knowledge of z/OS, JCL, CICS, TSO/ISPF, and VSAM.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience supporting banking/financial apps in IBM mainframe environments.
• Strong COBOL programming skills including maintenance and debugging.
• Solid knowledge of z/OS, JCL, CICS, TSO/ISPF, batch processing and job scheduling.
• Experience with VSAM, sequential files, balancing and validation, and high-volume transactions.
• Proven production support and troubleshooting experience, including incident management and recovery.

About the role

As a Senior Mainframe Application Support Engineer - Deposits, you will provide advanced production support for banking deposit applications in an IBM mainframe environment. You will troubleshoot complex production incidents, support batch and online processing, investigate application and file-processing issues, and drive problems through resolution. You will partner with development, operations, project and business teams while serving as a subject matter expert for assigned applications.

Your key responsibilities

• Provide advanced production support for banking deposit applications, including batch processing, online systems, file transmissions and application recovery.
• Lead troubleshooting of complex production incidents, perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for recurring issues.
• Analyze job streams, dependencies, scheduling, abnormal job terminations and batch failures, and resolve complex file-processing issues.
• Partner with development, operations, project and business teams on implementations, enhancements and issue resolution.
• Maintain support, recovery and operational documentation, participate in on-call and major incident response activities, and mentor team members.

What you bring

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience supporting banking or financial applications in an IBM mainframe environment, with experience in deposit or transaction processing.
• Strong COBOL programming skills, including coding, application maintenance and debugging.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS, Job Control Language (JCL), Customer Information Control System (CICS), Time Sharing Option/Interactive System Productivity Facility (TSO/ISPF), batch processing and job scheduling.
• Experience with Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM), sequential files, balancing and validation, and large-volume transaction processing.
• Strong production support and troubleshooting experience, including incident management, application recovery, root cause analysis and resolution of complex production issues.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with DB2 and Structured Query Language (SQL) for querying and validating transaction data.
• Experience with mainframe change-management, promotion and release processes.
• Client-facing support experience, including working with operations teams and external clients.
