Job summary

AlpHa Measurement Solutions, headquartered in Houston, seeks a Senior Machinist / Programmer to program, set up, and operate CNC machines for machined sub-assemblies and final products. You will coach junior machinists and support 5S and process improvements, reporting to the Machine Shop Manager.

The role encompasses programming Mazak/Haas equipment, ensuring quality, and maintaining tooling while meeting production deadlines. Ongoing safety and efficient manufacturing are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Post-secondary certificates for CNC training after high school.
• Experience in production machining.
• Programming: write/modify CNC programs for Mazatrol and G-code; use CAD/CAM software.
• Must be able to routinely lift 25 pounds.
• Able to work in a dynamic environment.
• Must be conversant in English for safety.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up and operate CNC machines. Create set-up sheets for future runs.
• Review specs/blueprints to determine operations and sequencing; use CAD/CAM as needed.
• Transfer CNC programs to machine modules via network, USB, or media.
• Modify programs to address issues and save changes.
• Maintain machines and replace worn tools.
• Measure dimensions with precision instruments to spec.
• Set up future jobs while current jobs run.
• Mentor and coach junior machinists.
• Support 5S events and continuous improvement projects.
