Job summary

RH Sheppard Co Inc. seeks a Senior Machining Quality Engineer to ensure processes and products meet quality standards and drive continuous improvement.

You will develop and maintain quality controls, resolve production issues, and lead root cause and corrective actions across manufacturing operations and new product launches. The role focuses on applying Six Sigma, SP C, DOE, PFMEA, and FMEA activities, with collaboration across cross-functional teams to improve KPIs and customer metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Quality Engineering in manufacturing; or one (1) year with a Master’s degree.
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
• Strong knowledge of IATF 16949 requirements.
• Experience with Six Sigma, Shainin Red X, or similar problem-solving methods.
• Strong written and verbal communication across all levels of the organization.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing: Standardized Work, CI, 5S, JIT.
• Experience with APQP process and PFMEA.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and improve Control Plans.
• Analyze scrap/rework data; drive corrective actions.
• Lead 8D problem-solving for machining-related issues.
• Lead New Product Launch quality activities in the area.
• Apply Six Sigma, SPC, and DOE to identify root causes and actions.
• Develop and implement KPI-focused CI projects.
• Review and approve engineering drawings for area implementation.
• Lead quality approvals for process changes and capital projects.
• Participate in MRB and corrective actions.
• Facilitate FMEA activities.
• Develop quality control plans and risk mitigation.
• Conduct audits to verify control effectiveness.
• Monitor pilot/production runs for quality adherence.
• Lead Process Capability and Gage R&R studies.
• Serve as escalation point for critical quality issues.
• Support KPIs and company goals.
