Job summary

Blue Origin in Colorado is seeking a Communication Systems Responsible Engineer within the spacecraft Avionics team to lead the integration of the communications subsystem. You will participate in multi-functional trade studies, run integrated analyses, and define interfaces that impact the spacecraft design.

The role demands a solid background in aerospace/electrical engineering, experience with RF and satellite communications, and a passion for safe, repeatable spaceflight.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical area
• 5+ years in communication systems or RF testing
• Strong knowledge of digital modulation schemes and FEC
• Experience delivering communications systems for spacecraft
• Experience integrating communication systems into larger systems with RS-422, Ethernet, SpaceWire, HDLC

Responsibilities

• Develop Communication system design for in-space architectures
• Allocate and decompose functions to the Communications Subsystems and align Lunar Permanence System engineering practices
• Support requirements management, change control, audits, and cross-team coordination
• Develop and maintain analyses and simulations for the Communications Subsystem (link, distortion, capacity)
• Develop verification/validation activity definitions and criteria
• Coordinate with Integration & Test teams to ensure required test capabilities
• Track V&V activities and travel to test facilities if needed
• Define vehicle-level interfaces between systems and components
• Author safety artifacts including hazard assessments and mitigations
• Mentor early career systems engineers
