Job summary

Southern Company Services seeks a Traffic Specialist III to manage transportation and logistics for materials and equipment across business units. You will determine optimal transport modes, coordinate shipments, and support outage and storm restoration efforts.

Ideal candidates have strong carrier management, freight negotiation, and HazMat knowledge, with familiarity in LTL, Truckload, Parcel, and air freight, plus regulatory awareness and cost control.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in transportation, freight, logistics, or supply chain field.
• Experience with LTL, Truckload, Parcel, Hotshot, Dedicated, and Air transportation.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and CFR 49.
• Experience with hazardous materials transportation and NMFC classifications.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate transportation of materials and equipment for internal customers.
• Determine best transportation mode based on urgency, cost, and delivery needs.
• Support logistics during routine operations, outages, and storm restoration.
• Review freight invoices for accuracy and negotiate carrier contracts and rates.
