Job summary

Evergreen Village of Fort Wayne in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to oversee the community safety program and maintain a secure, comfortable living environment for residents. Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Director, you will manage preventive maintenance and respond to requests.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, experience with HVAC and electrical work, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience with HVAC systems and/or electrical work is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the community safety program and maintain a secure resident home in line with policy.
• Sustain a preventative maintenance program for HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
• Complete all maintenance requests, both scheduled and emergency, promptly.
• Repair, replace or install minor equipment with oversight by the Executive Director.
• Maintain water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners, kitchen equipment and related systems.
• Perform exterior maintenance duties and maintain community plumbing.
• Lead fire and disaster drill activities with residents and staff.
• Engage residents with warmth and dignity in all interactions.
