Job summary

Vista Mesa Assisted Living in Cortez, CO seeks an experienced Food Service Manager to lead our dining program, plan nutritious menus, and ensure safe, appealing meals for residents.

The ideal candidate will have SERV Safe for Manager, 2–3 years in food service management (preferably in senior care), strong leadership, budgeting, inventory control, and collaboration with healthcare staff to meet special diets and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; SERV Safe for Manager certification required; A degree in Nutrition, Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of Food Service or food service management experience, preferably in assisted living, long-term care, or healthcare.
• Knowledge of nutrition, special diets, food safety, and sanitation standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with budgeting and inventory management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all dining services operations.
• Develop and implement nutritious menus that meet residents' needs and preferences.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations.
• Manage food purchasing, inventory, and department budgets.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule Food Service staff.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, and resident satisfaction.
• Collaborate with healthcare staff regarding special diets and nutritional requirements.
• Maintain accurate records related to food service operations and inspections.
• Conduct regular sanitation and safety audits of kitchen and dining areas.
• Foster a positive dining experience that enhances residents' quality of life.
