Job summary

Reflections at Garden Place - Columbia, IL is seeking a Cook to support our senior living team. You will prep, cook, and help maintain a clean dining environment under health regulations, delivering nourishing meals with compassion for residents.

You will work with the Dining Services Director to onboard new staff, schedule shifts, and ensure friendly interactions with elders, families, and teammates while upholding safety and infection-control standards.

Qualifications

• You will be formally trained in the culinary arts or have equivalent experience as a cook.
• You will bring a willingness to learn and work within a team environment.
• You will bring organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• You will have food handlers permit or be able to get one as required by state regulations.
• You will have good verbal communication and the ability to read, write, and speak English with residents and coworkers who only speak English.
• You will be able to pass a criminal background check.
• You will have the ability to perform job responsibilities with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• The Cook is responsible for meal preparation, delivery, and cleanliness under health department regulations.
• Prep and prepare meals under the guidance of the Dining Services Director.
• Ensure meals are nutritionally prepared and presented attractively.
• Orient and schedule new team members in coordination with the Dining Services Director.
• Greet elders, families, visitors, and staff to maintain a friendly environment.
• Maintain equipment and keep work areas clean, safe, and orderly.
