Job summary

Compass Senior Living in Mount Vernon, IL is seeking a Cook/Dining Aide to join our mission of compassionate, innovative elder care. You will assist in meal prep, delivery, and keeping dining areas clean while meeting health regulations.

You will learn under the Dining Services Director, ensure nutritious, appetizing meals, train new staff, greet residents and families, maintain equipment, and follow infection control procedures.

Qualifications

• Formally trained in the culinary arts or equivalent cook experience.
• Willingness to learn and work in a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized.
• Food handler permit or ability to obtain per state regulations.
• Strong English reading, writing and speaking with residents and staff.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals under the guidance of the Dining Services Director.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, appetizing, and attractively presented.
• Assist in orienting new team members and scheduling.
• Greet elders, families, visitors, and team members warmly.
• Keep equipment and work areas clean, safe, and orderly.
• Follow infection control and foodborne illness prevention procedures.
