Job summary

Dial Senior Living in Boulder, CO is seeking a Cook to join our kitchen team. This role focuses on independently preparing meals for residents and supporting the Sous or Executive Chef to maintain high quality and safety standards.

You will prepare a variety of meals, adapt recipes, ensure attractive presentation, manage weekly menu planning, maintain clean work areas, and record temperature checks and food items in the system.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of food safety and dietary guidelines.
• State food-handling and kitchen regulations.
• Promote teamwork in providing services to residents.
• Operation of kitchen appliances (dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine, blender, food processor, meat slicer, mixer, etc.).
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals for residents with attention to quality and presentation.
• Alter or adapt recipes to accommodate special dining needs of residents or to improve recipes.
• Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.
• Identify food and supplies needed for the next week’s menus and report to the supervisor.
• Participate in new menu and special menu planning.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and kitchen/storage areas.
• Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control.
• Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery.
• Assist with dishwashing and kitchen sanitation, as needed.
• Notify manager of food supply needs and malfunctioning equipment or appliances.
• Assist in the recording of Ready – to – Use – food items into the TELS website. Three items should be recorded for every meal.
• Record cooler, freezer and dish machine temperatures in the TELS website.
• Report any on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs.
• Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, community operations and personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.
