Job summary

Benchmark Senior Living in South Windsor, CT is seeking a compassionate Programming/Activity Assistant to organize and implement activities that meet residents' needs, promoting self-esteem in a nurturing environment. You will support the Activity Director and help run engaging programs seven days a week.

You will lead one-on-one, small group, and large group activities, encourage participation, and tailor plans to residents' abilities and interests while maintaining confidentiality and high

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma, bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues.
• Possesses training and knowledge in recreational activities.
• Possesses training and knowledge of Alzheimer's and related dementias.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community.
• Shows a consistent ability to coordinate multiple tasks, demonstrates a positive attitude, and works well under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an innovative seven day a week activity program that is engaging.
• Lead one-on-one, small group and large group activities according to the programming schedule.
• Support, encourage and direct independent activity pursuits, both individually and in small groups.
• Understand residents' backgrounds, abilities, interests, and attention span to tailor activities.
• Encourage and motivate residents to attend and participate in programming and activities.
• Communicate changes in residents' condition or behavior to the Harbor Care Director.
