Job summary

Benchmark Senior Living in Milford, CT is seeking a compassionate Programming/Activity Assistant to organize and implement programs meeting the diverse needs of residents. You will support the Activity Director and help design activities that promote self-esteem and engagement in a nurturing environment.

The role involves leading individual and group activities, understanding residents' backgrounds and abilities, and encouraging participation while coordinating with the care team to ensure

Qualifications

• Requires training and knowledge in recreational activities
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias
• Maintains confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and community
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and work well under pressure

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a seven day a week activity program
• Lead 1:1, small group, and large group activities
• Support residents in pursuing independent activities
• Understand residents' backgrounds, abilities, interests, and cognitive levels
• Encourage attendance and participation in activities
• Communicate changes in residents' condition to Harbor Care Director
• Stay with groups during excursions
