Job summary

Luxor at Mills Pond Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in St. James, NY is seeking a Recreation Aide to plan, organize, and implement activities that enhance residents' quality of life. The role offers up to $20/hour with full-time and part-time opportunities.

You will support daily recreational programs, encourage participation, and coordinate group events in a warm, resident-focused environment. Candidates should have experience in recreation, healthcare, or customer service, plus strong

Qualifications

Experience in recreation, activities, healthcare, or customer service.
Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care is a plus.
Strong communication, interpersonal skills; creative and energetic.

Responsibilities

Assist with daily recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for residents.
Encourage resident participation and engagement in programs and events.
Help organize group activities, games, outings, entertainment, and holiday events.
Provide one-on-one interaction and support for residents as needed.
Set up and clean activity areas before and after programs.
Assist with transporting residents to and from activities when necessary.
Maintain a positive, friendly, and supportive environment.
Document participation and attendance in accordance with facility procedures.
Work collaboratively with the Recreation Department and interdisciplinary team.
