Job summary

Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking a full-time Recreational Assistant to lead residents in scheduled activities such as music, arts & crafts, and fitness. The role requires Sundays and some evenings.

You will plan and promote programs; support residents individually and in groups; and assist with calendars, volunteer programs, and community interactions in a caring environment. Ideal candidates are energetic, creative, and enjoy working with the elderly, with a High School

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Experience facilitating activity programs for residents with dementia in a long-term facility (1 year min).
• Able to lift 25 pounds and stand for long durations.
• Energetic, creative, and enjoys working with the elderly.
• Possesses excellent work ethic and attendance record.
• Strong communication and time management skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and promoting recreation programs for individuals and groups.
• Encourage participation of all residents in daily activities.
• Visit bed-bound residents and provide appropriate recreation services.
• Assist with monthly recreation calendar.
• Assist with volunteer program, admission assessments, and community interactions.
• Ensure high-quality service in a caring, respectful environment.
