Job summary

SNF Rehab & Healthcare in New Jersey is seeking an Activities Director to plan, implement, and oversee recreation programs that enrich residents' lives. You will supervise Recreation Assistants and help develop personalized activity plans aligned with residents' needs and abilities.

The role emphasizes creating meaningful, diverse programs—intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual—while ensuring compliance with regulations and collaborating with the facility’s staff to promote resident

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent is required.
• Certification in accordance with New Jersey regulations is required.
• Associate degree in recreation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans the recreation program by developing philosophies, policies, procedures, goals and objectives; establishes individualized recreation plans.
• Plans programs based on residents' needs and interests; posts the monthly activity schedule.
• Documents the recreation program and residents' progress; maintains records for future planning and evaluation.
• Develops the resident care plan and maintains records on volunteers; ensures documentation meets standards.
• Implements a meaningful recreation program for all residents, including room-bound residents, with diverse activities each week.
• Provides resources for residents' special interests and materials for independent activity; allows flexible scheduling for spontaneous activities.
• Evaluates program effectiveness using quantitative and qualitative feedback to revise the program.
• Works with administration and staff; participates in orientation of new staff; communicates health and resident welfare information.
• Participates in facility committees; plans activities to align with treatment plans; delegates responsibilities.
• Maintains cooperative relationships with residents' families and encourages involvement and feedback.
• Engages with the community to educate about residents' worth and facility role; utilizes community resources.
• Ensures safety and compliance with legal, safety, health and sanitation codes; stays informed on MSDS and disaster plans.
• Prepares the yearly budget for the recreation department.
• Establishes and maintains volunteer programs; recruits, trains, and evaluates volunteers; matches skills to resident needs.
• Supports professional development and stays current in long-term care practices.
• Acts as a resource to staff, other coordinators and community organizations; communicates effectively and maintains confidentiality.
• Maintains effective communication with families through newsletters and outreach.
• Ensures residents receive high-quality service in a caring environment.
• Performs other duties as requested.
