Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking an activities assistant for a position in Minnesota. The role focuses on administering monthly activity calendars, planning engaging individual and group activities, and supporting residents with meaningful interactions.

You will assist with basic nursing tasks, transport, and documentation while maintaining dignity and encouraging resident participation. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, some experience in social services or geriatrics, and may hold a CNA

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in social services or creative activities preferred.
• Experience in geriatrics preferred.
• Knowledge of working with a wide variety of resident demographics.
• CNA certification preferred or currently enrolled in healthcare program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required based on location.
• CPR training within six months of hire may be required.
• Maintains required competencies and certifications.
• May require driving responsibilities per location policy.

Responsibilities

• Administers the monthly activity calendar.
• Regularly elicits patients/residents input into activity planning.
• Plans and oversees activities to support resident dignity and identity.
• Assists with simple nursing procedures and transporting patients/residents.
• Supports documentation such as MDS where applicable.
• Displays creativity and resourcefulness.
• Follows written and verbal instructions under supervision.
• Communicates effectively and demonstrates leadership to motivate others.
• Works with residents who may have behavioral challenges.
• Maintains strong critical thinking and prioritizes responsibilities.
• Plans resource use and work process designs.
