Job summary

Sanford Health in Brainerd, MN is seeking an activities assistant to enrich resident life through planned programs and one-on-one engagements. You will coordinate the monthly activity calendar, gather input from patients, and ensure activities are carried out with dignity and safety in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in social services or creative activities preferred.
• Experience in geriatrics preferred.
• Knowledge of working with a wide variety of resident demographics.
• Preferred CNA certification or currently enrolled in a healthcare related program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required based on location.
• Depending on location, attend CPR training and must be certified within six months of hire.
• Obtains and maintains required department competencies and certifications.
• Depending on location, may be classified as Sanford Category I or II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and valid driver’s license.
• Must be medically qualified to perform essential driving functions per Driving Policy.

Responsibilities

• Administers the monthly activity calendar.
• Regularly elicits patients/residents input into activity planning and keeps activities well organized and upbeat.
• Partakes in activities appropriate for resident/department to support functioning and dignity.
• Assists with simple nursing procedures and transporting patients/residents.
• Assists with MDS/EPIC documentation.
• Displays creativity and resourcefulness.
• Follow written and verbal instructions under supervision.
• Demonstrates leadership to develop and motivate people.
• Work with residents with strong will or behavioral issues.
• Plans and oversees utilization of resources and work processes.
