Job summary

Sight & Sound in Branson seeks a Senior Show Automation Technician to lead complex automation, rigging, media, networking, and electrical systems for live performances. You will operate automation consoles, troubleshoot at a high level, and mentor junior technicians while maintaining strict safety and show integrity.

You will collaborate with rigging, media, projection, and IT teams to implement new technologies, write show control scripts, and document all procedures.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in live entertainment or theatrical production, with at least 5 years in automation or show control.
• Proven expertise with automation systems including Raynok, Navigator, or similar motion control platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of electronic systems, mechatronics, and troubleshooting methodology.
• Strong hands-on experience with rigging systems and safety procedures.
• Working proficiency in programming/scripting (Lua, Python, C++) for show control applications.
• Solid understanding of networked control systems, IP-based protocols, and hardware/software integration.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• ETCP Rigging Certification and OSHA-30 safety credentials are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot show-critical systems including media servers, rigging, and network/communication systems during performances and rehearsals.
• Operate automation consoles and execute advanced cues with precision and safety.
• Lead real-time troubleshooting and system recovery to minimize downtime and ensure show continuity.
• Document cue sheets, diagrams, and maintenance logs; communicate with all departments under pressure.
• Mentor junior technicians and collaborate across rigging, automation, media, and electrical teams.
• Assist with installation and integration of new automation systems; support R&D and tech improvements.
