Qualifications

• Seven to ten years of litigation experience.
• JD from an accredited law school and NY license.
• Knowledge of New York Supreme and Civil courts.
• Member in good standing of the NY State Bar.
• Federal admission in SDNY and EDNY is a plus.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize responsibilities.
• First Chair trial experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong communication, computer and technological skills, and the ability to quickly leverage new software.
• Positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude.

Responsibilities

• Independently handle lawsuits involving motor-vehicle accidents, premises liability, and Labor Law/construction accidents.
• Prepare pleadings, written discovery, motions and briefs for defense strategies without supervision.
• Conduct legal research and independently develop and present defense strategies for clients.
• Analyze substantive and procedural legal and factual issues.
• Provide timely legal communications and advice to Claims customers and clients.
• Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel per procedures.
• Prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases.
• Attend continuing legal education seminars to maintain expertise.
