Job summary

Vultr seeks a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting a global customer base and data center operations. The ideal candidate is technically driven, detail-oriented, and able to diagnose complex issues with scalable solutions.

You’ll work across systems, applications, and networking layers to maintain secure environments, contribute to upgrades, and support platform expansion.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Experience applying systems-level troubleshooting and analysis to resolve non-routine issues.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or similar.
• Experience with virtualization, networking, or software development is a plus.
• Hands-on experience configuring and supporting web servers, databases, caching, and firewalls.
• Understanding of Linux utilities, server architecture, security hardening, Ceph, virtualization, load balancing, and core networking.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and upgrade Linux systems to support scale and reliability.
• Administer Linux servers and services; diagnose performance, stability, or security issues.
• Serve as escalation point for Linux-related issues and determine remediation.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations for data center deployments and readiness.
• Perform migrations and evaluate dependencies and risks.
• Monitor security posture and compliance with standards; address risks promptly.
• Develop automation and tooling to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Document systems, diagrams, and operational standards for consistency.
