Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. is seeking a Linux Administrator to maintain Linux-based servers and services across production and non-production environments.

You will implement automation, monitor performance, and ensure secure, scalable operations in collaboration with cross-functional teams. The role requires 5+ years of hands-on Linux administration, scripting capabilities, and experience with IaC/CaC, CI/CD, and DevSecOps concepts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS/IT or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on Linux admin experience in enterprise/ production environments.
• Strong knowledge of major Linux distributions and administration.
• Scripting to automate routine tasks.
• Familiarity with containerization platforms from an operations perspective.
• Exposure to DevSecOps concepts and secure software delivery practices.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC).
• Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SSH).

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, harden, and maintain Linux servers and services in prod and non-prod environments.
• Monitor performance, diagnose issues, and ensure reliability and scalability.
• Apply updates, patch management, and security configurations.
• Use scripts and automation tools to streamline tasks.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues across teams.
• Maintain IaC/CaC and CI/CD pipelines for consistency and deployment.
• Keep system documentation up to date.
